APRIL FEST AT GITARCAFE

Sarp Maden (guitar)-Eylem Pelit (bass)-Turgut Alp Bekoglu (drums) Trio’s concert seems to be the most exceptional concert of the month. Akın Eldes, one of the most important rock guitarists in Turkey, will play his own compositions with his friends from Pinhani group: Sinan Kaynakçı and Hami Unlu. Famous song writer and guitarist Dogan Canku will meet Arif Azertürk, the tar player from Azerbaidjan; Ukrainian bassist Yuri Ryadchenko will accompany them. Murat Usanmaz, one of the well known young guitarists in Turkey, will come with his quartet: Barkin Balik, Kagan Yıldız and Ediz Hafizoglu. They will play Usanmaz’s own compositions and selected pieces from flamenco and jazz repertories. Donovan Mixon, jazz guitarist from the States, lives in Istanbul for years. He will make a workshop before his concert with Ozan Musluoglu (double bass). The ‘garmon’ (Georgian accordeon) master Zurap Tarieladze will give a very interesting concert with Nugzar Partenadze (doli-Georgian percussion). The other Georgian music concert will be from Kafdagi Ensemble: ‘Songs from Kaf Mountain’. Klez-Mez, the first Klezmer group of Turkey, will play Sephardic, Yiddish songs and Klezmer tunes. Gocebe Sarkilar/Nomad Songs singing songs of immigrants and nomads; Babil, playing tunes from all over the world; A-Da-Ko, with Balkan and Aegean songs are the other guests of the month. Helesa group performs songs from Blacksea, with their own arrangements. Before the Helesa concert, there is a short film in Homshetsi (Hemsince): Grandma/Momi (director Ozcan Alper, 25 min). This month, we will have a stand-up performance, first time at Gitarcafe: Cadinin Bohcasi Yola Cikti (Witch’s Bag) is based on the transsexual feminist Esmeray’s own story.

At Gitarcafe, there is strong possibility to listen to some special guests, not written in the program, and during the concerts you don’t smoke. Please don’t forget to call for reservation.
